Ways to get involved

Resident involvement has always been important to us at East Thames. It’s important because we want to make sure our residents are happy with the services we provide and the way we work. By involving you in the decisions we make, you get to have your say and help shape the way we work, while we learn how to improve our services and work more effectively.

Our vision for resident involvement is that by 2015 we will have put residents at the heart of our business, engaging them meaningfully so they drive local and strategic improvement in our housing services.

There are a range of ways that residents can get involved and have a say on the work we do and we can provide training and support for all residents who take on one of these roles. You can download the resident involvement application form here.

If you would like more information or you want to sign up, or for a copy of our resident involvement strategy, please contact our resident involvement team on 020 8536 3957 or residentinvolvementteam@east-thames.co.uk.

Formal involvement

The Housing Scrutiny Panel (HSP) has been set up to examine our performance and the services we provide.

All 12 members are East Thames residents who examine our performance and landlord services, such as repairs and maintenance, and make suggestions and recommendations for improvements to the East Homes Board.

You can find out more about East Thames' Housing Scrutiny Panel here.

Service improvement

Would you like to test and inspect the services we provide?

We’re looking for residents who would like to become resident inspectors or mystery shoppers. These roles involve testing the quality of our individual services, such as communal repairs, grounds maintenance or our customer contact centre. As a mystery shopper or resident inspector, you’ll be commissioned by our scrutiny panel to take a closer look at out services and make sure we’re keeping our customer promises.

For more information and details of the selection criteria, please read the person specification.

Local engagement

Would you like to represent your local community?

We want to help residents set up and run residents’ associations across the areas where we work. Residents’ associations give you the opportunity to get together with your neighbours to discuss issues that are important to you and your community. We can then work with you to improve your local area.

If you like to set up a residents' association in your area, please get in touch and we’ll talk to you about the support and possible funding we can provide.

Occasional involvement

Do you have strong views on the way we provide services but not enough time to get involved?

We are always looking for residents to complete surveys or come along to occasional focus groups. This is a great way to tell us what you think without giving up too much of your time. You can complete our surveys over the phone or online so you wont even have to leave your home. If you would like to get involved in this way, just let our Resident Involvement Team know.
