Information for new tenants

Information for new tenants

There is plenty of information for our new tenants to make sure you get the most from your East Thames home.

Lettings standards

We have lettings standards which all our properties meet before they are let. We inspect each property to make sure your new home is safe, secure, clean and in good condition before you move in.

Occasionally we will carry out repairs to your home after you move in; we’ll let you know about these when you sign your tenancy. You can read more about what standards to expect from your new home in our Lettings standards factsheet (562KB PDF).

Decorations

If needed, we will decorate kitchens and bathrooms before you move in. If other rooms need decorating you will need to organise this.

If your property’s interior has been damaged, if the decoration has fallen into disrepair or if you have a medical need for the property to be redecorated, we will give you decoration vouchers to help towards the cost. These vouchers can be used online at www.duluxdecoratorcentre.co.uk/housing/eastthames.

We will let you know when you view the property if it qualifies for decoration vouchers. The vouchers are available to new tenants only. We cannot help with redecoration costs in new build properties or for existing tenants.

Welcome pack

After signing your tenancy agreement we’ll give you a welcome pack along with the keys to your home.

The welcome pack contains important information about our services, the property you’re moving into and your responsibilities as a tenant. It also includes your tenancy agreement so make sure you keep it in a safe place.

Find out more

Every quarter we’ll send you your rent statement along with our resident magazine, Street by Street. Street by Street contains lots of information about our services, events and activities happening in your area and details of how you can get involved in shaping our services. You’ll also find lots of information relating to your tenancy on this website, including details of how to report a repair and how to pay your rent.

We’re available by phone Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 8:30pm on 0845 600 0830 or in our offices at 29-35 West Ham Lane, Stratford E15 4PH.
