What we do (CSR)

We want to make a lasting difference in our community

We want to make a lasting difference in our community and we rely on a lot of companies and individuals to help us.

Our sense of social responsibility and bringing out people’s potential has been with us since we began – it really is part of who we are. So we also make sure that we are supporting the causes and programmes we believe in ourselves.

Here’s a few examples of what it looks like in practice:

We donate to East Potential

Each year the East Thames Group provides a donation to support the work of East Potential.

We fundraise

Whether it’s a tasty piece of cake, wearing our jeans or getting on our bikes – you name it, we love a good fundraiser. We often raise money for East Potential but also support a number of other causes close to our hearts.

We offer Routes to Work placements

Over the years we’ve offered dozens of placements at East Potential and East Thames to Routes to Work participants. Some of these people have gone on to get permanent jobs with us.

We volunteer

A lot of our East Potential and East Thames staff volunteer their time outside of work hours. Sometimes this is for a one-off project and other volunteers give their time on a regular basis.

Do we make a difference?

So how do we really make a difference? We’re pretty proud of the people we’ve helped to change their lives, and we’re proud of our teams who are thoroughly committed to making a difference.

  • Last year our employment and training team helped 234 unemployed people get a job. In spite of the gloomy economy, this was our best result yet.
  • Of the 408 residents that moved on from our foyer programme last year, 160 were in education or training and 71 were in employment.
  • Last year 30 people took part in our accredited training programme Community Champions, designed to tackle unemployment and equip people with the skills and knowledge to bring about positive change in their community.
